The results are in and you\u2019ve got accepted into university. Congratulations! But what if your bank account is empty and mom and dad can\u2019t help you either?<\/p>\n

Should you abandon your dreams of getting a college degree online or offline or wait for a better moment in your life to pursue your studies? Certainly not!<\/p>\n

The good news is that it is possible to get funding through scholarships or loans, especially if you are studying a particular discipline or you are part of a minority. Criteria these days can be based on all sorts of things including academic merit, where you live, what your parents do, and your heritage.<\/p>\n

Paying for college degree programs often entails student blend multiple financing options including loans and scholarships. The Salvadorean American Leadership and Educational Fund (SALEF) is home to the Fulfilling Our Dreams Scholarship Program which is aimed at students of Central American or Latino ethnicity.<\/p>\n

Candidates must be a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate\/graduate student at the time of the application with a minimum GPA of 2.5.<\/p>\n

Only students who are studying in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles Area or San Fernando Valley are invited to apply for a chance to receive a scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.<\/p>\n

Other requirements include proven financial need and demonstrated history of community involvement. While students pursuing any program can apply for this scholarship, a preference will be given to those enrolled with a health related degree.<\/p>\n

Information on the 2018 scholarship is yet to become available, but from last year we know candidates we\u2019ll be required to send in a completed application, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement no longer than 1,000 words, a resume, official transcripts, an official copy of their parents\u2019 federal tax return or proof of income, as well as a copy of their federal financial aid award letter and copy of their SAR (Student Aid Report) as generated by FAFSA.<\/p>\n
