Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that consumer interest in healthy eating is on the rise. So why not learn to grow your own vegetables and when you get really good at it, start selling them in bulk to customers? That way you can build a thriving business.<\/p>\n

Agriculture, farming, cultivation, crop growing \u2013 these words all describe the ancient practice of growing edible things. But today, the world we do agriculture has changed dramatically with the introduction of technology. So by enrolling with a traditional or online degree program in agriculture you\u2019re looking at a career that touches all disciplines including science, math and tech.<\/p>\n

Anyway, at this point we should note that most online universities offer some time of agriculture-related online degree program, but keep in mind that agriculture as a field requires a lot of on-hands experience. So even as an online program will provide you with the tools necessary to understand the implications of land use and management change on agricultural productivity, you\u2019ll have to take care of the practical part yourself.<\/p>\n

Although, some online universities might offer programs that blend both worlds. However, they are not easy to come by.<\/p>\n

So our best advice is to pursue a traditional degree if you\u2019re looking to study agriculture. This way you\u2019ll be sure to get all the information you need to succeed under your belt \u2013 both practical and theoretical.<\/p>\n

Anyway, whether land, water or soil is what arises your interest, studying agriculture means you will be working on some of the world\u2019s hardest challenges including overpopulation and food\/water shortages around the world.<\/p>\n

But what if you can\u2019t afford to pay for a degree in agriculture? Should you renounce your dream? Not at all.<\/p>\n

Given that the need for agricultural experts is very high right now, a lot of institutions and foundations are looking to sponsor students who are pursuing a career in the field. It\u2019s the case of the scholarship we\u2019re going to talk about in a few.<\/p>\n

Offered in partnership with FFA (an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership), the America\u2019s Farmers Grow Ag Leader scholarship is targeted at students pursuing a degree or certification in a specific area of agriculture.<\/p>\n

In order to apply students need to fill out a form online on the FFA.org website until February 1, 2018 \u2013 which is the deadline for the scholarship. \u00a0Just note, that in order to be considered for one of the grants, you will have to have a minimum 2.5 GPA.<\/p>\n

The selection process takes into account multiple factors including FFA involvement, work experience (if any), supervised agricultural experience, community service, leadership skills and academics.<\/p>\n

Up to 352 scholarships at $1,500 each will be awarded, so as an applicant you have a pretty good chance of securing a grant yourself.<\/p>\n
