This $5,000 scholarship can fund your two-year college program

Two-year degree students can apply for scholarships targeted at their niche

Associate degree students need help paying for college too, fortunately there are sponsorship exclusively targeting two-year program students

Interested in attending college, but you’re worried you might not be able to afford it? You’ve come to the right place, because we have a suggestion for you.

When you say college, most people assume you’re talking four-year bachelor programs. But that’s not the only option when it comes to getting a higher education. Some students might not be aware that they can get a taste of the college experience by enrolling with a two-year associate program.

Associate programs are usually offered by community colleges, but in the era of technology you can easily enroll with associate degrees online.

An online associate degree has many advantages, the primary one being that it might allow you to graduate in less than two years. Some online universities offer accelerated programs which allow students of associate degrees online to be out on the job market within a year.

Another important factor to take into consideration when you’re wondering whether you should go for associate degrees online or not is cost. Given that a classic associate program takes two years to complete, as opposed to four, it’s a lot more affordable in terms of tuition.

And if you’re studying from home, you won’t have to worry about room and board or travel costs either. But that doesn’t mean you won’t need help in paying for school.

Start looking for scholarships and grants as soon as you decide you want to enroll in an associate program. The majority of funding opportunities out there usually welcome both students of two-year degrees, as well as four-year programs.

But at the same time you should be aware there are some funding programs which exclusively targeted students of two-year programs. They might not be as frequent as general scholarships, but they do exist out there, so you should try searching for them.

If you don’t know where to start, we’ll give you an example. Enter the SC Life Scholarship at Two-Year Institutions offered by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education.

In order to be eligible to receive the scholarships, applicants must be enrolled with an eligible South Carolina institution and be a high school senior at the time of the application.

Furthermore, students must be able to demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0 and score an 1100 on their SAT (or equivalent 24 on the ACT). The Commission is looking for high-achievers who rank in the top of 30% of the graduating class to apply for this grant.

Students in South Carolina who are interested in applying for this grant should contact their high school guidance counselor or college financial aid office for additional details and information on how to proceed further.

The award offered if for up to the cost of tuition at an eligible two-year college (should not exceed $5,000) plus a $300 book allowance. The good news is that the award is renewable until the degree program is complete. So you won’t have to worry about money and concentrate on your studies.
