For those who don’t know legacy scholarships are offered to encourage a family tradition of attending a particular university and celebrate those traditions with money for college.

Such a scholarship is offered by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in the US. Members of the orders are called Elks themselves.

The foundation is looking to offer $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of Elks members. In 2018, up to 300 awards will be offered.

Candidates must be high school seniors at the time of the application and must have taken the SAT and ACT tests by December 31, 2017.

There aren’t many documents to submit in order to qualify for one of these grants. Just one thing to keep in mind – the Elk’s sponsor’s membership will be verified, so don’t attempt to send your application if you’re not eligible.

You have until February 2, 2018 to submit your application, so if you’re reading this now, know you still have a few weeks at your disposal to do so.

This is only an example of legacy scholarship, but many others are available online and offline. Start asking around and also make sure to search the Internet to find others.
