General information about the scholarship program
The KNB Scholarships, Government of Indonesia popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program offered by the government of the Republic of Indonesia to selected applicants originating from developing countries. Administered by the General Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, the scholarship offers potential students to obtain their Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees from one of the 23 prominent Indonesian universities while experiencing life in the most culturally diverse nation in the world.
The KNB Scholarship at ITS Surabaya, is provided for the Master’s and PhD program for a period of 3 years (2 semesters of Bahasa Indonesia + 4 semesters of Masters) and a period of 4 years (2 semesters of Bahasa Indonesia + 6 semesters of PhD) respectively.
Starting in 2021, the program is offered to Masters and PhD candidates from developing countries around the world.
Judging from the previous years, this program has been attractive to many applicants from Europe, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and Asia.
All academic programs (lectures and theses / dissertations) will be conducted in the Indonesian language.

IMPORTANT
a. All scholarship coverage is for a single person. The KNB does not provide a family allowance.
b. ITS only provides tuition waiver for 5 KNB PhD positions.
Requirements to apply for the scholarship
1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.
2. Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree approved by the respective Ministry of Education and Culture for (Master’s degree holder is not eligible to apply)
3. Applicant must have a minimum TOEFL IBT score of 80 or an IELTS score of 6.0 (or any other English proficiency test with an equivalent score)
4. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.25.
